Memorial Day 2010 Peace Be With You All

May 28, 2010

A Memorial Day doesn’t go by without that elephant sitting on my chest as I fondly remember Michael J. Holtz, one of my extended sons whom I loved dearly.  It’s been three years now that he and another fallen sailor lost their lives while in service on the USS  Minneapolis – St. Paul as it was leaving port in England.

I can’t help feel the pain of all the Mothers, Fathers, Husbands, Wives who live with that elephant called grief on a daily basis.  My heart and thoughts reach out to you as well on this Memorial Day.

But my heart aches for all of you men and women who are currently serving our country now.  I just want you to know how deeply I appreciate you and your service.  I know you and your families have sacrificed greatly.  I only wish there was a way I could show you my gratitude.

But I promise, when you return, if you need anything….we at The Great Workplace are here for you.  We’re here to help get you back on your feet, work on a resume, polish up your civilian skills….whatever you need….we make that commitment back to you!

And soldiers from the past, I wish we had been there for you as well.  For you too deserve all the blood, sweat and tears we, your fellow Americans can lay down before you.

THANK YOU for all that you have done and are doing.  I haven’t the words capable of expressing the depth of my gratitude to you ALL!

Rest in peace Michael.

And may peace be with you all.

In appreciation,

Barbara Krecic

  1. sorry for your lost barbara this was a nice piece you wrote and i’m sure he is looking down on you right now smiling.

  2. Very nice article. I think we all feel the same way. So sad when someone doesn’t make it home…but also so great a feeling when they do.
